Foreign Relations committee spending and staffing
If adopted, this resolution would let the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations spend from the Senate contingent fund and hire staff from March 1, 2025 through February 28, 2027. It would set spending caps of $6.07 million (Mar 1–Sep 30, 2025), $10.40 million (Oct 1, 2025–Sep 30, 2026), and $4.33 million (Oct 1, 2026–Feb 28, 2027). For each period, up to $250,000 could pay consultants and up to $30,000 could pay professional staff training. With prior consent, agencies could loan staff to the committee on a reimbursable or nonreimbursable basis. The bill would authorize payments from the Senate "Expenses of Inquiries and Investigations" account to cover employer-side contributions for committee staff in the same three periods. Committee expenses would be paid on vouchers approved by the committee chairman, except vouchers would not be required for annual salaries, telecommunications from the Sergeant at Arms, stationery from the Keeper, Postmaster payments, metered copying charges, Senate Recording and Photographic Services, or franked and mass mail costs.
