A resolution supporting the designation of the week of September 20 through September 26, 2026, as "Telehealth Awareness Week".
Sponsored By: Senator Schatz, Brian [D-HI]
Passed Senate
Summary
Telehealth Awareness Week designates Sept. 20–26, 2026 to spotlight telehealth as a way to expand access to care. The resolution highlights Medicare trends showing telehealth grew from about 0.1 percent of Medicare Part B visits in 2019 to being used by 23 percent of beneficiaries in 2025, with over 90 percent of users satisfied. In late 2025 nearly 11 percent of Medicare beneficiaries and more than 20 percent of dually eligible Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries used telehealth in a quarter. As of June 2024, 44 percent of behavioral health visits among traditional Medicare were delivered by telehealth. It urges raising awareness, sharing resources for patients and providers, collecting and analyzing telehealth data, and promoting continuous access across settings. The designation is advisory and contains no funding or regulatory changes.
