New Castle taxes vary by property type

The law allows the New Castle City Council to set different property tax rates for homes, businesses, and industry. Each year, by the first Monday in July, the Council adopts the city budget. After assessments are final, the City levies taxes on assessed value to raise enough to cover that budget. Your bill may go up or down based on your property’s class and the rate the Council sets. The law does not set any specific tax percentages.
