Background checks for Delaware Finance staff and vendors

The law requires criminal background checks for current Delaware Department of Finance employees and people with a conditional job offer. The Secretary can also require checks for contractors or other third parties who need access to department systems, buildings, or data. People selected for checks must give fingerprints to the State Bureau of Identification so it can get state and FBI records, or confirm none exist, and send them to the Department. If available, the Bureau also sends later updates through the Rap Back system. Current employees and contractors have 30 days after a written request to submit their fingerprints and information. The Department can use these records, as allowed by law, to decide hiring and access.
