No discrimination in resident care

You have the right to be free from discrimination in your care, treatment, and services at long-term care facilities. Facilities cannot treat you differently for any reason protected by Delaware civil rights law.

Privacy and room-sharing for spouses and partners

You have privacy during visits from your spouse or domestic partner. If you both live in the same facility, it must let you share a room when feasible. A medical reason can stop room-sharing. This right includes domestic partners, including those from other states.

Rights notice for residents, staff training

The Department must give each resident, or their authorized representative, a written notice of all resident rights. The notice must be in a language and format they can use. When the rights change, the Department updates the notice within 30 days. Each facility must train staff on these rights and train on any changes within 60 days.
