The law keeps names and other identifying details in Florida’s Parkinson’s disease registry private and not open to the public. The Parkinson’s Disease Research Board can access the data. A contractor that runs the registry can get it only if it files a research plan naming the exact data and use, keeps records confidential, destroys them after the study, and never contacts patients. These privacy protections end on October 2, 2031 unless lawmakers renew them. The law takes effect the same day as HB 1443 (or similar) if that bill also became law in the same session.
