Worship security volunteers gain a licensing exemption

Beginning July 1, 2026, Florida exempts qualifying armed security volunteers from Chapter 493 private security requirements, including licensing. Their services must be voluntary, unpaid, and on the premises of a church, mosque, synagogue, or other place of worship. The law does not create payments or a benefit program.
