Lake County caps inmate medical payments

Lake County limits pay to non-contracted health care providers for inmate care to 110% of the Medicare rate. Hospitals without a county contract that reported a negative operating margin last year are paid up to 125%. Non-contracted trauma-center hospitals treating an inmate marked as a trauma alert are paid 175%. Non-contracted emergency medical transport for inmates is capped at 110% of the Medicare rate. Bills from hospitals run by Lake County are not subject to these caps.
