The law sets payment rules for care given to inmates housed in the Indian River County detention center. Noncontracting providers are paid no more than 110% of the Medicare allowable rate. If the provider reported a negative operating margin last year to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, pay can be up to 125% of Medicare. Noncontracting trauma centers get 175% of Medicare when treating inmates who are trauma alert victims under Florida law.
