3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.
Some noncontracted providers can receive up to 125% of the Medicare allowable rate. To qualify, the provider reported a negative operating margin last year. The report must be to the Agency for Health Care Administration using hospital-audited data. This rule applies to services for inmates in Polk County detention centers.
Polk County pays noncontracted providers at most 110% of the Medicare allowable rate for inmate medical care. Noncontracted emergency transports, including ground and air ambulances, are also capped at 110% of the Medicare rate. These limits apply only for inmates in Polk County detention centers. The caps apply only when there is no Polk County contract.
Hospitals operated by Polk County are not subject to these caps. Their charges for medical services are not limited to 110% or 125% of the Medicare rate. This exemption applies only to hospitals owned and run by Polk County.
