Utility commission can close confidential hearing parts

The Public Service Commission can close only the parts of a hearing that discuss proprietary confidential business information protected by state law. Those parts are not open to the public. The commission must record and transcribe all closed portions. The recordings and transcripts stay confidential. A court can review them in private and order release of any parts that were not actually confidential. This exemption ends on October 2, 2026 unless the Legislature reenacts it.
