Crime to block sexual assault reporting

The law makes it a crime to stop a victim or witness from reporting a sexual assault. A person commits this offense only if they also commit, help, or abet the sexual assault. It covers stopping or trying to stop someone, directly or through others, from calling 911, getting medical help, or reporting to police or another official. The person must act intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly. This offense is a third-degree felony.
