Payment relief and penalties for Louisiana drivers

Under Louisiana’s Office of Motor Vehicles Reinstatement Relief Program, your first three missed installment payments move to the schedule’s end. Starting with your fourth missed payment, each missed payment carries a $25 late fee. The office must email you, and must receive the missed payment and fee before your next scheduled payment. If you fail to catch up as required, your full unpaid balance is due within 60 days after notice and demand. Your license is suspended at that period’s end unless your payments are current or your agreement is reinstated. Failure to meet the installment agreement’s requirements also removes you from the program, and you cannot rejoin.
