License privacy protection excludes wildlife lottery applicants

The law protects personal information Louisiana’s Department of Wildlife and Fisheries collects when issuing hunting and fishing licenses. That information is exempt from public records disclosure. But lottery applicants’ personal information is excluded from this protection during the season for which the department’s lottery is held. Their information may still be disclosed under public records law.
