Sex offenders receive written supervised release notices

Louisiana courts must give written notices about supervised release to people convicted of a sex offense and a crime against a minor. The notice must explain that supervised release applies after release from prison when the victim was under 13. That advice applies when the offense requires registration and the person was incarcerated for that conviction. If the person is not sentenced to incarceration, courts must send the completed form to the state probation and parole division. This law requires notice; it does not create the underlying supervised-release rule.
