For Louisiana state police pension valuations dated June 30 in 2027, 2028, and 2029, prior-year overpayments or underpayments are spread over 20 years. All funding adjustment balances outstanding June 30, 2029, are combined, with equal yearly payments from July 1, 2029, through June 30, 2049. Covered changes, gains, or losses with payments starting July 1, 2030, or later are spread over 15 years, counted from the year they occurred. The law also ends the rule treating actuarial gains placed in the experience account as losses paid over ten years. Starting in fiscal year 2027–2028, employers must pay at least projected employer normal cost divided by projected active-member payroll, plus the benefit-increase account funding rate.
