New board rules for district attorney pensions

The law sets staggered terms for Louisiana’s District Attorneys’ Retirement System trustees holding these seats on January 1, 2026. The retired assistant district attorney trustee and Division B trustee have terms ending August 14, 2027. Division C and D trustees have terms ending August 14, 2029. Division A and E trustees have terms ending August 14, 2030. The retired district attorney trustee and Division F trustee have terms ending August 14, 2031. Each seat’s elected successor starts a five-year term on August 15 of its expiration year. Vacancies are filled for the remaining term in the same way the seat was previously filled, with one exception. For elected seats with less than two years left, the board must appoint a replacement within 90 days. Trustees receive $75 per day for attending board meetings, plus the normal state employee expense allowance, when funds are available.
