Extra pay for Louisiana election commissioners

Beginning January 1, 2027, Louisiana election commissioners’ regular pay covers election-day work and required instruction courses. The Secretary of State can also pay an extra $100 per election day or day of assistance, subject to state funding. This payment follows the pay rules in R.S. 18:426.1(A)(1), (2), and (4) and is not guaranteed. A separate supplement allows up to $100 per election or assistance day for elections held within one year after a governor’s emergency declaration. For that supplement, the parish governing authority must apply through its board of election supervisors, and the Secretary of State must approve.
