New limits on recording deceased people

Louisiana’s video-voyeurism law now bans using cameras or camera-equipped drones to view or record a deceased person’s body. Recording tied to lawful funerals, memorials, graveside services, and other end-of-life ceremonies is exempt. The ceremony must be conducted or approved by the deceased person’s next of kin or authorized representative. Exceptions also cover officers performing official duties, qualifying news and public-interest reporting, and providers carrying or broadcasting images. Sex-offender registration applies to the first three listed video-voyeurism offenses, but not this new offense involving deceased people.
