Louisiana law requires agencies to share child sexual abuse images after prosecutors file formal charges under the state's abuse-materials law. Investigators must send seized images to the Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children division. That division must forward them to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's Child Victim Identification Program. It must request the program's agency contact information and provide case details under the center's guidelines. Investigators must also send case details and images for newly created abuse materials, as those guidelines request. For images showing an identified victim, the division must give the assigned prosecutor the agency contacts supplied by the program. When charges are filed and an identified victim lives in Louisiana, investigators must submit additional details to the program. These include the parish, district, and docket number or agency file number; defendant's name, race, sex, and birth date; victim's biographical details; and identifying-agency contacts, including program contacts. These duties shift reporting from the state's victim-identification database to the national program. Failure to comply does not invalidate a sentence, plea, conviction, or other final outcome. It also gives no one grounds to sue investigators, prosecutors, or their officers or agents for that failure.
