Higher pay for Louisiana judges

The existing judicial pay supplement ends June 30, 2026, and becomes a salary cost-of-living adjustment on July 1, 2026. Beginning July 1, 2026, additional annual raises are $12,129 for Supreme Court justices, $11,431 for appeals judges, and $10,723 for district judges. City and parish judges get the same percentage increase as district judges on their state-paid salaries. These raises follow Judicial Compensation Commission recommendations and total less than 2% for each year since the last increase. The judiciary must fund the 2026–27 additional raises from its reserves. The Louisiana Supreme Court and Louisiana Judicial Budgetary Control Board must certify that those reserves are sufficient. Beginning July 1, 2027, judicial salaries rise another 2.7%. The bill title reports an estimated $6.69 million increase in state general-fund spending.
