Longer retirement options for Louisiana sheriff employees

Louisiana Sheriffs’ Pension and Relief Fund members can choose a Back-DROP period at retirement. With 35 or more years of credited service, the maximum is 60 months, or five years. With at least 30 but fewer than 35 years, the maximum is 48 months; below 30 years, it is 36 months. Each limit is also capped by the months of credited service earned after first qualifying for regular retirement. Members must choose whole months covering their most recent calendar period of credited service.
