New appointment roles for Baton Rouge partnership

The law replaces the Baton Rouge Area Chamber with the Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership in development board appointment rules. State law also recognizes the partnership, or its successor, as a regional economic development organization. For the Downtown Development District, the partnership submits four nominees for one seat. It also submits four nominees for one seat on the Florida Boulevard Economic Development District’s 11-member board. For both seats, the mayor-president makes the appointment with metropolitan council approval. The partnership’s president appoints one member of the Baton Rouge Inner City Economic Development District board. Its governing board appoints one member of the Plank Road Business Economic Development District’s seven-member board. Its governing authority appoints one member of the East Baton Rouge Redevelopment Authority’s five-member board. These changes do not specify new household benefits, costs, or services.
