Capital Area road board membership rules change

The law changes membership rules for the Capital Area Road and Bridge District’s seven-member board. Members include Louisiana’s transportation secretary and each district parish president, or people they name to serve instead. The governor appoints one district resident and can remove that person at any time. The House speaker appoints one or two state representatives, and the Senate president appoints one or two state senators. These lawmakers must represent districts that include part of at least one parish in the road district. Where practical, each legislative leader must appoint one lawmaker from each parish in the road district. The law does not change household payments or provide new funding.
