New property tax rebates in West Feliciana

Beginning January 1, 2027, the law authorizes West Feliciana Parish property tax rebates; 2027 is the first eligible tax year. Rebates are percentage credits against a later year's tax bill, not cash payments. They cover only taxes from the Parish Government, School Board, and Law Enforcement District, which administer the program. Each year, the parish president, school board president, and sheriff must unanimously approve any rebate percentage. The parish president must call and lead their meeting at the parish council chambers by June 30. The meeting must follow the Open Meetings Law. The sheriff applies any approved credit to each property's final tax bill before sending it. The law sets no rebate percentage, so savings are not guaranteed.
