New limits on local government printing

The law changes what Louisiana parishes, municipalities, and school boards pay to publish official proceedings and public notices. The per-character ceiling rises to 3 cents, replacing 1.5-cent or 2-cent ceilings based on parish size. Notices with tables or submitted already laid out use square-inch rates instead. That rate is $2.76 in parishes without a city of more than 100,000 people. It is $3.96 in parishes containing a city above that size. These rates use six-point type and font, with a one-inch-high by one-inch-wide space per column. Rates are adjusted proportionally for larger type or wider or narrower columns. In all cases, costs cannot exceed the lower of the applicable statutory rate or the rate in effect on January 1, 2026.
