Louisiana education department renewed until 2031

Beginning June 30, 2026, the law re-creates Louisiana’s Department of Education and the entities placed within it by law. Their existing legal authority continues. They begin winding down operations on July 1, 2030, and their legal authority ends on July 1, 2031. The department can be renewed before that deadline through the state’s existing agency renewal process. The law adds no funding and specifies no changes to education services or eligibility.
