Louisiana local governments can sell adjudicated property directly to adjoining landowners who maintained it for one year before the sale. The local government sets any price for these sales. Another option allows direct sales of property appraised below $50,000, with a fixed price set by resolution or ordinance. That option requires offering the property to the highest bidder at a public sale within the previous 12 months. Both direct-sale options skip public bidding but legally count as public sales; neither guarantees a discount.
