Louisiana requires payer disclosures for paid election-related communications, including digital material, about a legally qualified candidate. The rule covers broadcasts within 60 days before an election where that candidate is on the ballot. Material paid for and approved by a candidate or authorized committee must identify the authorized committee as payer. Material funded by others but approved by a candidate or authorized committee must identify the payer and state that approval. Material without candidate or committee approval must name the payer and state that no candidate or candidate committee authorized it. These unapproved materials must also give the payer’s physical address—not a P.O. box—phone number, and website if available. All payer names must appear in full, without acronyms.
