Retailers must keep imported seafood purchase records

Louisiana retailers must keep invoices for seafood bought from imported seafood vendors for at least six months after purchase. They must make these records available for inspection by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. Missing records or knowingly creating or submitting false or fraudulent records are violations subject to civil penalties. The commissioner sets the penalty amounts and how they are imposed; the law lists no fixed amounts.
