Higher assessor pay with eligibility limits

Beginning July 1, 2026, Louisiana parish assessors can receive one 5% annual pay increase in each year from 2026 through 2029. Annual base pay is $88,290 for parishes with 50,000 or fewer residents, $98,290 for 50,001–249,999, and $108,290 for 250,000 or more. Population comes from the latest U.S. census or Census Bureau Federal-State Cooperative population estimates; base pay is paid monthly. Before each raise, assessors must publish notice twice on separate days in the parish’s official journal, ending at least 30 days before the raise. Assessors lose eligibility for raises for taxable years ending after December 31, 2025, when their assessments violate the property exemption in R.S. 47:6001.
