Louisiana parents get school test schedules

Beginning in 2026–2027, Louisiana’s Education Department must post an accessible, downloadable statewide test schedule by August 1 each year. It covers tests and screeners required by federal law, state law, or State Board rules—not local-only tests. Schools must post a link and matching PDF within 10 business days after the department posts or updates its schedule. By November 1, school authorities must also post a PDF schedule of locally required tests, including benchmarks and progress checks. Both schedules must show test names, vendors, grades or student groups, subjects, delivery methods, dates, frequency, and estimated testing minutes. They must identify what requires each test and show both minutes per test and total yearly minutes per student. State schedules must include make-up windows; local schedules must explain test types, purposes, uses, expected results dates, and overlap with other tests. Local testing windows can include nonconsecutive school days. Parents must receive the statewide schedule and local schedule covering their child’s grade, courses, and student group within 10 business days after posting. School authorities must email parents as soon as possible when schedules change. The department must update its schedule within 10 business days after changes to requirements, dates, frequency, or time estimates. Schedules must stay publicly accessible throughout the school year and exclude identifying student information and individual results. The department must provide standard templates and implementation materials before 2026–2027.

Louisiana schools must publish test reviews

Beginning in 2026–2027, Louisiana public school authorities must post an annual local test review by November 1. The review must appear on the same website as the local test schedule and go to the Education Department. For each local test, it must explain testing time, purpose, use of results, results timing, and duplication. It must say whether the review led to keeping, reducing, combining, replacing, or ending the test. The law does not require schools to reduce or remove any test. School authorities must submit their posted schedule information and website addresses using department forms and deadlines. The department must compile submissions and send them to the House and Senate Education Committees by December 20 each year. It must publish the compiled PDF by January 15 and annually publish an inventory of federally and state-required tests and screeners. Reports, submissions, compilations, and inventories must exclude identifying student information and individual results. The State Board may adopt rules to carry out the law.
