Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Louisiana authorizes credentials in digital wallets

The law allows any state-authorized or state-required credential to be offered through an electronic wallet. Louisiana’s commissioner of administration can coordinate with credential issuers to put this into practice. Listed credentials include Louisiana State Bar Association membership cards and Louisiana High School Athletic Association referee credentials. They also include faculty, staff, and student credentials at Louisiana public and private colleges, plus mobility-impaired identification cards. The law authorizes these digital options but does not require rollout by a set date.

Vehicle lenders must name tag agents

Federally insured banks must name a public tag agent if they originate more than 250 motor vehicle transactions per year. Finance companies, lending institutions, and other lenders must also name an agent. Lenders must connect their computer systems with the agent to receive state confirmation that vehicle liens were received and filed. They must also designate an agent when sending a lien release or satisfaction.
