Louisiana courts must coordinate appeals filing

The Louisiana Supreme Court and appellate courts must make agreements to deliver one shared filing platform for appeals. The goal is full integration with the statewide Louisiana Clerks’ Remote Access Authority filing platform. The law sets no completion deadline. The authority must report to lawmakers no later than the start of the 2028 Regular Session. Its report must show total collections from the new recording fee and progress toward the integrated platform.

Higher fees for recording covered documents

Beginning January 1, 2027, people and organizations pay an extra $5 per document recording covered by R.S. 13:754(F)(1). The recording member keeps $0.50 and sends $4.50 to the Louisiana Clerks’ Remote Access Authority by the tenth each month. The authority keeps $0.50 and sends $4 to the law’s dedicated Court Modernization and Technology Fund. That money supports court technology, including statewide electronic filing integration. The extra fee ends August 1, 2029, unless lawmakers extend it by law.
