Louisiana consolidates geology and energy data

The law moves the Louisiana Geological Survey into Louisiana State University's Energy Institute. The Survey keeps statewide surface and underground surveys current. It coordinates data storage and management with state technology, wildlife and fisheries, and conservation and energy agencies. The Energy Institute coordinates survey storage and maintenance with the Natural Resources Commission. State Resources works with the institute on surveys and handles mapping, hazard assessments, resource inventories, and related studies. The Energy Office manages energy infrastructure for affordable, reliable energy and works with the institute on a unified data program. That program gathers, studies, and shares information on energy supplies, production, demand, technology, costs, and future needs. The office also provides technical help, identifies policy options on request, and coordinates with research institutions. Agencies can use cooperative agreements to carry out these changes. The law specifies no direct household payment, cost, or funding amount.
