Louisiana public bodies can use electronic votes

Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana public bodies can use electronic machines to display and record each member’s vote. Votes displayed and recorded this way satisfy the law’s requirement for voting aloud. All votes must appear in the body’s minutes, journal, or other official written records, which are public documents. The law also applies retroactively to votes and actions taken before enactment.
