Higher employer funding for Louisiana police pensions

Employers pay additional contributions to help fund benefit increases for Louisiana State Police Retirement System retirees, beneficiaries, and survivors. The funding rule applies to the June 30, 2023 system valuation. Beginning July 1, 2024, the AFC funding rate rises in fiscal years when the projected total employer contribution rate falls. The increase equals half that drop or the amount needed to reach 3.5%, whichever is smaller. Each increase is permanent, and the AFC rate cannot exceed 3.5%. The law does not set an individual benefit increase amount.
