AI training ban targets child abuse

Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana bans using a child's image with the intent to train artificial intelligence to produce child sexual abuse materials. The child must have been under 17 when the image was created, but does not have to be real. Judges or juries may use listed evidence to decide whether a real person was under 17 or an AI-training image shows someone who appears under 17. Factors include body growth, bone development, body hair, sexual development, the image's context, and any stated age. They may also consider expert opinions about age or development and other evidence the court finds relevant and reasonably reliable.
