Louisiana tax notices use more address sources

The Louisiana Department of Revenue can use addresses from any private source to send certain tax and debt notices. These cover fuel-use fines, debt collection, estimated taxes due, tax assessments, urgent assessments when collection is at risk, and certain penalties. Private sources no longer have to provide addresses for free. The department can still use taxpayers’ last reported addresses, government sources, and Postal Service-certified software. The law leaves tax amounts, fines, debts, mailing requirements, and appeal rights unchanged.
