Louisiana retirement trustees need less training

Beginning August 31, 2026, covered Louisiana retirement board trustees have lower annual training requirements. Investment training drops from 8 to 7 hours, and actuarial science education drops from 4 to 2 hours. Training on their retirement system’s laws and rules drops from 2 to 1 hour. The 2-hour requirement on fiduciary duty and ethics stays unchanged. System staff or outside experts can provide training, and retirement systems can share sessions. Trustees first elected or appointed on or after June 1 follow only Paragraph (4) of Subsection D. The provided text does not explain that paragraph’s requirements. The law does not directly change household retirement benefits or costs.
