Changed licensing rules for virtual-currency businesses

Beginning August 1, 2026, the law repeals two earlier provisions tied to virtual-currency licensing and regulation, enacted in 2023 and 2024. When federal licensing law overrides Louisiana’s Virtual Currency Business Act, conflicting state permission for affected activities becomes invalid. Only the conflicting parts end, on December 31 of the year the federal law takes effect. The law provides no direct household payments or benefits.
