Louisiana patients get stronger biomarker coverage protections

Louisiana health plans must cover biomarker tests required under R.S. 22:1028.5(B). Plans cannot tie coverage to lab classifications or credentials unrelated to performing the covered test. They must minimize disruptions to patient care, including cases needing multiple biopsies or samples. These protections override conflicting rules in R.S. 22:1028.3. The act takes effect upon the governor's signature or the deadline for becoming law without signature. After a veto override, it takes effect the next day.
