Louisiana retiree plate renamed; fees support foundation

Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana renames the “State Employee Retired” specialty license plate “RSEA” and changes its design. The state can establish the plate only after at least 1,000 applicants enroll. Only passenger cars, pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, and vans can use it. The design places Louisiana’s outline on the left, with the state seal inside, and “Louisiana” at the top. Plate numbers appear in the center, starting at 1, with the RSEA logo at the bottom center. The extra $25 plate fee goes to RSEA Foundation, Inc. each year instead of reducing state employees’ unfunded retirement liability. The law does not change the fee amount.
