Dentists gain control over electronic payments

Louisiana dental plans must get clear agreement from a dentist or their chosen representative before starting or changing bank-transfer or credit-card claim payments. Agreement can be electronic, including a digital signature or checking an acceptance box. A payment choice made without clear agreement is invalid until a new express agreement is made. The rule applies to policies, contracts, programs, and dental coverage plans issued, changed, or renewed on or after January 1, 2027. Coverage already in effect before that date must follow the rule by January 1, 2028.
