Louisiana parish election board members receive $150 per day actually spent preparing for and supervising elections in their parish. The law raises the usual paid-day limit from six to seven. For presidential elections and regularly scheduled or special congressional primary or general elections, the limit rises from eight to nine. Members who are not public officials can also receive $50 per day as subpoenaed witnesses in court cases about their election duties. These pay provisions take effect when a legislative act providing a specific appropriation for implementation becomes effective.
