Beginning August 1, 2025, Louisiana public high schools, including charter schools, must let students enroll in available vocational and technical courses. Schools without these courses may partner with other public schools, Louisiana two-year public colleges, or state-board-approved nonprofit career schools or Course Choice providers. Schools may request a state education board waiver if their approved mission or curriculum model does not fit these courses. Students cannot be charged a course fee when their local education agency receives career development funds through the Minimum Foundation Program for that course. Schools must also tell students about the TOPS Tech Early Start Award and explain who qualifies; award eligibility and amounts are unchanged.
