Certification options and limits for election officials

Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana sets approved training paths for its Voter Registration Administrators' Certification Program. Options include the Certified Elections Registration Administrator program run through Auburn University and the Election Center, or a national certification designation. A substantially equivalent program also qualifies with approval from the Louisiana State Board of Election Supervisors. Registrars of voters, chief deputy registrars, and confidential assistants must take courses required to earn or keep certification. The law creates no direct household benefit or payment.
