Clearer donation choices on Louisiana licenses

Beginning June 1, 2027, Louisiana license and ID applicants get free, neutral information about donation for transplants or transplant research. The state must let applicants confirm or change their donation choice, refuse donation, or make no selection. State forms include space for limits, special instructions, the applicant’s signature, and any witness signature required by law. The department keeps these forms on file and clearly marks the applicant’s selection on the license or ID. A selection is not required to get or renew either document. Making no selection does not authorize or refuse donation, change a prior choice, or have a separate legal effect. Recorded choices follow existing donation laws.
