Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana expands accepted worker degrees for Medicaid reimbursement of certain behavioral health services. The law adds health sciences, therapeutic recreation, and criminal justice to the accepted fields. This applies to psychosocial rehabilitation and community psychiatric support and treatment. Workers must hold at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and serve through a licensed, accredited agency. This may improve access for Medicaid patients, but does not guarantee more providers.
