Online protective-order filings with witness requirements

Beginning August 1, 2026, Louisiana’s Judicial Administrator’s Office is authorized, but not required, to create a statewide online filing portal. The portal covers protective-order requests allowed under this law, including temporary restraining orders. Online filers must electronically sign and date a statement under penalty of perjury. It must confirm that the petition’s facts are true to the best of their knowledge, information, and belief. The statement must be made before a witness who also signs electronically.
